Combat is a bit tricky in Hogwarts Legacy with various combat challenges appearing whenever you fight dark wizards, goblins, or trolls. Some of these challenges are quite easy, while others can be quite confusing. For example, flipping a Troll’s staff is one of the many challenges you’ll receive and if you’re not sure what you’re doing, you’ll end up hurting yourself because Trolls don’t mess around. This guide will show you how to flip a Troll’s club on its face in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to stun a troll in Hogwarts Legacy
There are two ways to stun a troll in Hogwarts Legacy: by knocking over their mace and by throwing their own stone at them. Both actions are considered combat feats and both can appear whenever you start a fight with a Troll. The first stun method requires the use of the Flipendo spell. If you don’t have it, be sure to complete Professor Garlick’s homework.

When a troll approaches you, there is a chance they can perform one of two different attacks with their club. If he performs a downward attack, you will see a yellow mark appear on your character’s head. Use Protego during this time to block the club. Immediately after blocking the club, launch Flipendo. This will cause the club to face the Troll’s face, stunning it for a short time.

The second method to stun a Troll does not require you to have a specific spell like flipping his club. Trolls can perform a ranged attack where they grab a large stone and throw it at you. You will see the same yellow circle appear around your character’s head during this time. Use Protego to block the boulder, then immediately press the launch button, which by default is the right bumper on Xbox or R1 on PlayStation. This will require you to return the stone to the Troll, stunning it again. Be sure to collect the well-deserved Troll Bogeys when you defeat the Troll.
