Why doesn’t Crawth appear in the Academy of Algeth’ar in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight?
Crawth is a giant avian boss in one of the wings of the Academy of Algeth’ar dungeon in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Before the encounter, players must battle two waves of birds. Crawth is supposed to fly after the trash can is defeated, but sometimes it fails. This happens when one of the Territorial Eagles gets stuck in the giant pillars surrounding the arena. This is usually caused by a druid’s adaptive swarm ability skipping the mob before it reaches the arena, but other situations can also cause this.
Normally this would completely lock the dungeon and prevent a Mythic Plus run from completing, as the boss must be killed to progress. With no response form from Blizzard, players have only found one specific way to fix the issue and spawn Crawth.
How to Fix Crawth Error in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight
The only sure way to reset the encounter and spawn the boss is to have all five players disconnect at the same time. If there is no one in the dungeon, mobs will reset. They are then free to log in and will likely be placed at the entrance to the dungeon and can quickly return to Crawth’s arena.
While this is essentially an easy fix, it’s not ideal as it will take just over two minutes to reset and return to the boss encounter. Losing time on a Mythic Plus run is extremely painful, and it’s kind of ridiculous that it hasn’t been fixed via a hotfix yet.
Blizzard has earned goodwill from gamers with Dragonflight, but situations like this cause endless frustration for fans, especially when their complaints go unanswered. For now, some players are simply avoiding the Algeth’ar Academy dungeon until the issue is resolved.
