Fallout 76 is full of deadly and dangerous beasts that can easily take down your character if you’re not prepared. One of the most fearsome of these creatures is the fearsome Yao Guai. Appearing in several Fallout games, these beasts look like big bears and won’t hesitate to chase you if they see you. It’s best to take them on once you’ve got some experience under your belt and gained a few levels. This guide will show you how to find Yao Guai in Fallout 76.
All Yao Guai spawn locations in Fallout 76
The Yao Guai are formidable enemies that you should not play with if you are not prepared. However, there are times when you’ll need to hunt down these beasts to complete challenges and earn points for the final season leaderboard. If you need to find Yao Guai, you can go to a few places where you are guaranteed to find them.

If you’re looking to locate Yao Guai, check out the following places in Appalachia:
- Monongah Lookout – A Yao Guai can still be found on the wooden platform at the bottom of the stairs.
- Bed and breakfast on the mountainside – Two Yao Guai can still be found on the railroad from the building.
- Dolly Sods Desert – Two Yao Guai are still on the way to the entrance and on the way to the area.
- Alpha site– You can always find a Yao Guai near the building by the lake.
- Philippi Battlefield Cemetery – A Yao Guai will usually spawn in the parking lot.

These areas are where you can most often find Yao Guai. Note that they may take a while to respawn if another player has recently been in the area and killed the Yao Guai there. The following areas are where Yao Guai has a chance to spawn:
- Granja Beckwith
- Mid-mountain chalets
- graninger farm
- pumpkin house
- Seneca Rocks Visitor Center
- Whitespring Golf Club
Any of these areas can spawn, but some of them can still spawn other creatures like Radscorpions or Wolves. You still have a chance to find a Yao Guai during the Free Range event. When you encounter a Yao Guai, do your best to attack it from behind, as its claw attacks can cause you to stagger and break your character’s limbs.
