Ixion is a fascinating game in which you play as the manager of a colossal prototype space station exploring the stars. During your journey, you’ll need to build a small town in the resort to keep everyone fed, happy, and healthy. However, there are times when the randomness of human nature takes over and events arise to challenge you. This guide explains how to find one of these events and the Wololo reference it contains.

How do you find the Wololo reference at Ixion?

You find the Wololo reference during Chapter 3 of the Ixion story. After launching a probe to collect ice and coal, you will receive a strange request. This request is called Wololo, which informs you that a religion called the Cult of the Helmet has been established. You can choose to suppress the cult or embrace it. This event in itself is irrelevant because the Wololo reference is already present here.

What does Wololo mean?

Wololo is the sound of Monk units spawned in Age of Empires 1 when converting enemy units to your side. Sound is part of gaming culture, at least for those who remember it. Obviously some members of the development team at Bulwark Studios do, which is why they named this event Wololo which relates to a cult converting people from a space station. You can allow your people to convert or choose to reject this cult, similar to how enemy units were converted or killed in Age of Empires 1, depending on whether your monks or multiple combat units succeeded first.

Ixion is a unique city builder set in space where your city slowly travels across the galaxy. You’ll need to gather space resources to fuel your progress inside the space station, and people’s needs won’t be met if you can’t gather enough to help them. The game is a great thrill for those who love an epic sci-fi story with various trials and tribulations that threaten a society established by bureaucracy rather than outright alien attacks or more action-oriented events.
