There’s a lot going on at Hogwarts Legacy, from thrilling wizard combat and dungeon diving to catching beasts and brewing potions. Potions are one of those tools that are not necessary but will definitely help you if you decide to use them. There’s everything from invisibility potions to ultimate potions that increase your spell damage. This guide will show you how to drink potions in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Use Potions in Hogwarts Legacy
Potions are just one of many Hogwarts Legacy mechanics to match the fast-paced combat you’ll encounter. You can rely on potions to gain an advantage by increasing your damage, hiding from enemies, or even decreasing the damage you take. Your first potions interaction will be during potions class with Professor Sharp. After this course, you can drink potions at any time, as long as you have prepared them.

You aren’t shown how to use the potions in-game, but it’s a relatively simple process. To get started, press and hold L1 on PlayStation, LB on Xbox, or Tab on PC. This will open the tool wheel which displays all potions and combat plants you have access to. With this menu at the top, use the right stick or your mouse to select the potion you want to use, then release the tool menu button.

With your potion equipped, simply press the tool wheel button to use the potion. This will cause your character to drink it and receive its effects. However, this is not how Wiggenweld potions are used. To drink a Wiggenweld potion, press the D-Pad on Xbox and PlayStation. On PC, the health potion button defaults to the G key.
