Atomic Heart’s story closes each chapter with a towering boss that looks like it might crush you without you even noticing. This guide explains how to defeat one of these bosses, the M-9 BELYASH, and how to get the trophy associated with it.

M-9 BELYASH will ambush you when you are about to enter the art exhibit. It’s a colossal machine with a round head and more eyes than we’re comfortable with. It spins its head to charge up certain attacks, making you feel like you’re about to turn around to get stuck between that spinning metal skull and the ground. However, this is all just a red herring for a much easier fight than HOG-7 HEDGIE.
To beat M-9 BELYASH, you need to keep an eye on him and dodge him whenever he attacks, whether he’s near you or not. The robot can charge up and smash the ground to release a circle of energy that will damage you if caught. Jump and run to dodge these attacks, then dodge whenever he tries to hit you with a physical attack. Most of this robot’s attacks are easy to track. You just have to stay away from him when he uses a particular move that can get him close, ready for a hit.
If you are lucky enough to scan M-9 BELYASH, you may notice that he is weak to ice and therefore your Frostbite ability. However, if, like us, you didn’t equip it the last time you had a chance, you might have to go without it. We are using friend to stun and slow the boss before taking melee or shotgun hits and polymer shield to protect us from any blow we cannot dodge. These skills are enough to get you through the fight.
This boss is fast and jumps a lot. You should stun him with Shok every chance you get, then follow up with as many bullets as you can. Any energy weapon is great because it lets you deal damage without having to worry about wasting your precious ammo supplies. Keep dealing damage and you will eventually defeat this boss. It’s good to use the Fat Boy if you found the plan. Missiles from this weapon must hit the enemy to deal damage, and something as big as the M-9 BELYASH is easier to hit.

There is a trophy/achievement in Atomic Heart called Chop Chop Chop that requires you to kill M-9 BELYASH with a melee weapon. It’s easy to do because you don’t have to rely exclusively on a melee weapon. Simply deal the finishing blow with one. We were able to earn this Trophy/Achievement because we ran out of ammo during the fight. To do this, deal as much damage as possible with other weapons until M-9 BELYASH is low on health. Then use Shok to stun him and close in on your melee weapon for the final blows. This should kill the boss and get you the trophy/achievement you’re looking for.
