Once you complete the “Proof of Guilt” and “Proof of Innocence” side quests, the third side story “Proof of Justice” opens in octopathic traveler 2. As with the other three, it takes place at the Timberrain Courthouse. However, for the first time, players can enter after seeing that Meylan is no longer in sight.
Judge Astell was murdered and Meylan was the last person seen with him. Everyone assumes the courtroom guard did it. Meylan will be accused in the background, and you can talk to a viewer to learn that the judges are trying to frame him and get the “Test of Justice” side story.
You need to talk to some people at the courthouse before you leave. First, you have to use someone like Osvald to get information. If you examine the secretary, you’ll get a clue on how to visit her aunt in New Delsta. Then talk to the stenographer on the right. The person will mention that they dropped a murder weapon in a lake, so they would end up on the Southern Timberrain trail and end up in the ocean.
Since you’re there, head to the South Timberrain Trail first. This is a “recommended level 45” area, so be careful if you’re on a lower level. Just after crossing the bridge, head slightly north to the pier so you can cross the river. Near the rainbow and the waterfall, you should see the blue flash indicating a hidden object. This is the stolen sword you need to prove Meylan innocent.
From there, head to New Delsta, then go to New Delsta: Backstreets area. If you go down the path that leads to the games room, you will see an austere old woman. She’s Meylan’s aunt. You’ll need someone like Osvald to scrutinize her or Hikari to bribe her. This will give you the information which is the second test.
Return to Timberrain with the information and the stolen sword, and tell the spectator what you found during the day. Returning both of these will end this “Test of Justice” side story in octopathic traveler 2. You will get 30,000 Leaves, Fortifying Nut (L), and Magic Nut (L).
octopathic traveler 2 is available for Switch, PS4, PS5 and PC. A demo is available.
