Fallout 76 is full of various tasks to complete. Although most of these tasks come in the form of quests, some tasks are small challenges that you must complete. The Pioneer Scouts are looking for new recruits. If you join them, you will be tasked with completing various objectives that will prove that you are a worthy candidate. You’ll have to do everything from reviving an ally to controlling parasites. This guide will show you how to complete the Pioneer Scout Shooting Trial in Fallout 76.
How to find and complete the Pioneer Scout Shooting Trial in Fallout 76
Before you can complete the Pioneer Scout Shooting Test, you will need to join Pioneer Scouts. This is done by going to the Pioneer Scout Camp in the northern part of the map. This location is just north of Grafton Dam, where the tower is located on the map. Once you reach the camp, talk to Mr. Handy Robot on the left after going through the entrance. He will introduce you to scouts.

After joining the scouts, from the camp entrance, go right and go to the other side of the mess. You will see a small bridge. Cross the bridge and the shooting range is on the other side. Before you can start this test, you will need a crossbow. Luckily, you can grab the crossbow blueprints next to where the speaker is in the firing range.

Head to a weapons workbench and craft a crossbow. If you do not have the necessary materials or the advantage of the gunsmith, you can easily find a crossbow in the following areas:
- Southwestern Outskirts of the Winding Path Palace
- In the locked storage room in the basement of the Sons of Dane Compound
- In the basement of Bootlegger’s Shack
- In the southern hut in the mid-mountain huts
Once you have a crossbow, interact with the speaker on the range and the Pioneer Scouts shooting test will begin. Once the mission begins, you will have one and a half minutes to hit each of the five targets in the area. Do this and you will be rewarded for being a good explorer. Don’t forget to complete your camp tasks to get a backpack.
