Sometimes you go in search of adventure and other times adventure is delivered to you through a map found in ancient ruins. There are many side quests in Hogwarts Legacy and some of them are found by chance while exploring. The Hippogriff Marks the Spot is one of the few side quests you can find while exploring the southern part of the map and it leads to an ancient treasure. This guide will show you how to complete The Hippogriff Marks the Spot in Hogwarts Legacy.
Visiting hippogriffs mark the spot in Hogwarts Legacy
After successfully fighting your way through the goblin camp blocking your access to the shore of Poidsea, head south to the castle of Poidsea. This area has been overrun by dark wizards so prepare for a battle. Once the dust has settled and you are the winner, you can find the map on the south side of the castle. This map has a section of land marked with a hippogriff statue and some ruins.

Follow this map south to the large body of water. Looking for Cape Manor. These large ruins can be found southeast of the West Manor Keep Floo Flame fast travel point. Once there, locate the entrance on the side of the ruins that leads inside the cliff. This will take you to Henrietta’s hideout.

Inside Henrietta’s hideout, you’ll find a room with two plates on the floor. A plate contains an ice cube. Leave this cube alone. Look to the left side of the room and light the bowl at the base of the statue. This will spin the statue and reveal a fire cube. Use Wingardium Leviosa on the bucket and move it to the plate with the fire symbol. Hit the fire cube with a fire spell and the freeze cube with the Glacius spell. Doing this will open the door.

With the door open, enter the hideout and eliminate the Ashwinders in the room with the Hippogriff Statue. Once everyone is defeated, turn your attention to the statue. Look at the fire pattern that appears on the map. Use a fire spell and the Glacius spell to turn on and off the fire bowls around the statue to match the pattern.

When the fires are burning in the correct pattern, a wall behind the hippogriff statue will open, revealing a treasure chest. Interact with the treasure chest to complete the quest.
