Immediately after discovering Ashvattha’s Fane at the end of “For Fruits, Seeds, and Trees” in Genshin Impact, you’ll immediately jump into “For Children of the Past” with Arama venturing into Old Vanarana, in the throes of decomposition. Overtaken by The Withering, Old Vanarana is not safe to explore. However, you can safely walk through its surroundings by staying close to Arama, who will be surrounded by a green aura that dispels Decay. Your goal is to find three Souvenir Inscriptions, which Arama will need to break a seal you find later during your exploration.

During the first half of the “For Children of the Past” quest in Genshin Impact, you must stay close to Arama and only venture behind his protective aura to defeat enemies blocking your path or activate life candles. While you may be tempted to ignore weaker slimes, hilichurls, or mushrooms you encounter on the main path, remember that Arama moves slowly. Simply put, it would be better to clear any obstacles in your way than risk wasting healing food. Eventually, you’ll reach the first memory inscription inside an abandoned Aranara hut. Defeat nearby Winged Dendroshrooms and Floating Dendromushrooms to collect it.
The process of staying close to Arama, defeating enemies along the way, and collecting Remembrance Inscriptions is what you’ll do for Part 1 of “For the Children of the Past” in Genshin Impact. At first, you’ll run through common mushroom monsters, but then you’ll encounter Fiftwolves, Stonehide Lawachurl, and Ruin Drake: Skywatch blocking your way. However, as long as you don’t stray too far from Arama and have the means to heal your party, this part of the quest is relatively linear and easy to complete.
You’ll find the seal Arama is looking for in the hollow of a giant vertical log in “For the Children of the Past” in Genshin Impact. Arama will use the three Memory Inscriptions you collected to dispel the seal, allowing you to enter the underground tunnels of Old Vanarana. These tunnels are protected by various fungi and slimes that you must fight to reach a huge sand-filled cave with a withered tumor. Despite the many Ruin Guards lying around, only one will be active. We recommend that Diona or Zhongli guard the team during this small skirmish, as the foul branches around him will continuously attack him with annoying projectiles as he tries to fight back.

Unlike other Withered Tumors you’ve encountered before, you’ll notice that this Tumor in “For the Children of the Past” doesn’t have any Withered Branches or Auspicious Branches nearby in Genshin Impact. Instead, you need to progress the quest by finding and destroying seven of the Aradasha Stone Locks in the area. Four of these stone pillar seals are in the central chamber, while three more are hidden in a hidden tunnel passage. You can access the passage by tapping your Vintage Lyre on Claustroflora near the northeast corner of the cave.
In the tunnel you will find a blocked path that can only be opened by shooting Healthy Dendrograna on four Special Valaya. You need to use your Vintage Lyre on the Sprouting Branch to spawn the Dendrograna. Once you have located all of the Stone Pillar Seals, you can destroy them using Pyro attacks from any of your Pyro units such as Hu Tao, Xiangling, or Klee. Keep your distance after hitting a seal for the first time, as it will release an AoE that can damage your characters. Once all seven Aradasha Stone Locks have been deactivated, talk to Arama to continue “For the Children of the Past” in Genshin Impact.
After a short scene, you’ll find yourself in another chamber filled with sand, but this time you’ll be faced with a giant Ruin Grader. His HP will fully regenerate twice after being defeated in battle. If you’re low on healing supplies or HP, consider going to the alcove behind Arama and standing in the back where the ruin leveler can’t reach you. You can stand close to the wall and safely launch ranged attacks until it has been defeated twice. After completing this battle sequence, you’ll drop into Aramuhukunda’s house, where you’ll need to investigate five murals on the cave wall, a chair, the nearby pool, and a pile of books and luggage.

Aramuhukunda will appear shortly after you examine the points of interest in your house. A dialogue scene will take place, after which you will be asked to go even further into ancient Vanarana to reach the Land of Anchored Dreams. This part of Genshin Impact’s quest marks the conclusion of “For the Children of the Past” and the beginning of “For All the Children Who Yearn for Life”.
