Zhuyan is the second boss you will encounter while playing Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. As you can probably guess from his physical appearance, this hulking monkey can pack a punch. However, if you play a more defensive game, it’s not too difficult to take down this beast.

For starters, I once again recommend using a polearm if you’re not confident in your ability to deflect. Deflecting and parrying Zhuyan’s attacks are key to this strategy. Another thing to keep in mind is morale. Morale dictates how much damage you take when an enemy hits you, as well as how much damage you deal on your turn. Zhuyan’s morale is 10, so you should have that too. For reference, I beat Zhuyan with 8, which was my minimum. Personally, I don’t recommend trying to grind too much in Wo Long because you have to do it again if you die. It’s like a waste of time unless you’re really in trouble.

Unlike Zhang Liang, Zhuyan tends to do combos. So even if you parry a hit, it still hits you about two more times. His critical hits are pretty easy to read due to how long his setup time is and how he tends to pounce or jump at you. However, on the other hand, it happens to you very quickly. I recommend keeping a good distance to give yourself enough time to react. If you combine Spirit Attacks with Parry, you should be able to deplete Zhuyan’s Spirit Gauge quite often and at a rapid rate.

Zhao Yun is pretty useless in this match, to be honest. But it is fantastic as a wall or as a lure. Whenever Zhuyan whaling in Zhao Yun, it’s your chance to sneak in some free shots. Run towards Zhuyan while he’s busy hitting Zhao Yun and deal as much damage as possible. I highly recommend the wood phase magic spell “Absorb Vitality” for boss fights. So if you cast Absorb Vitality before you start attacking Zhuyan, you can refill any HP you lost earlier. With these tips, it will be easier for you to face Zhuyan in Wo Long.

Wo Long is available on PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
