The New Game Plus system is a staple of Souls games and is available in the Elden Ring once you beat the final boss. You can start a new game, called Journey 2, by selecting to do so after the credits. If you have unfinished business in Lands Between, or just want to explore the world you’ve already conquered, the option to enter the next round of new play will still be available in Roundtable Hold by interacting with Table of Lost Grace and selecting Start Journey 2 .
The new maximum game level in Elden Ring
Almost every Souls game handles the mode a bit differently, and Elden Ring follows that trend, though it’s mostly inspired by Dark Souls III. This time, your adventures in Lands Between will increase in difficulty, and the rewards will arrive on your eighth playthrough. Known as NG+7, the latest difficulty spike is incredible compared to the challenge of a new game, but as long as you level up by playing, it shouldn’t be. Also difficult. However, Malenia can still be a wall.
One thing to note: technically it continues to add additional New Game Plus levels after NG+7, but you won’t get anything for progressing beyond a new world to explore and a reset of all bosses, quests , etc. as many different iterations of Elden Ring as you want, collecting weapons, upgrading materials, mastering gear, etc., with no additional restrictions. In other words, if you hit NG+100 (if you enjoy Elden Ring enough to spend that many hours exploring Middle-earth), the experience will be no different than NG+7.
Of course, you don’t need to enter New Game Plus at all, and the vast Lands Between will remain open to you if you want to enjoy the world even without tangible rewards. New Game Plus cycles also don’t affect your PvP experience, as once you’ve unlocked an area to invade, it’s available to use regardless of how much time you spend elsewhere.
