What does Residual Arcane do in Warframe?
Residual Arcane was originally introduced in the Deimos Arcana update. This update added a new set of Arcanes that are exclusive to the Deimos region and can be found in the hub called Necralisk. To access this center, you must complete the In the heart of Deimos questline Once you have completed this questline, you must speak to Mother and repeatedly collect rewards from the Isolation Vault to earn one of these powerful mods.

These complex quests can offer one of four unique residual arcana. These are the four Arcana and what they do. Each ability listed has a 20% chance to activate with each Kitgun kill at maximum range.
- Residual boils: A chance to spawn volatile hives for 12 seconds that explode when enemies get close, dealing 80 heat damage over 10m. Standing in the area applies the Theorem Arcane Heat damage type.
- Residual bad odor: A chance to create a freezing mist for 12 seconds, dealing 40 cold damage/s. Standing in the area applies cold damage to arcane theorems.
- Residual Shock: Chance to generate an electrified spike for 12 seconds, dealing 200 electric damage to enemies within 10 yards. Standing in the area applies Electricity damage to Arcane Theorems.
- Residual viremia: A chance to create a pool of toxic blood over 12 seconds, dealing 40 damage per toxin/s. Standing in the area applies Toxin damage to Arcane Theorems.
These arcana are relatively specific, but worth cultivating if you have a Kitgun that you enjoy using. It is possible to use multiple of these Arcanes and stack them with other elemental mods to devastate the infected with high status debuffs.
