According to the latest figures, Hogwarts Legacy’s European debut was a huge success, and in its first week the title even surpassed last year’s blockbuster Elden Ring.
Less than a week has passed since the official release of Hogwarts Legacy, but it’s already clear that the game’s debut has been a huge success. The title beat out the competition on Steam and stores were under siege, so much so that the game sold out in some places.

According to GamesIndustry.biz editor Christopher Dring, Hogwarts Legacy in its opening week in Europe. achieved a sales result 56% higher than last year’s success – old ring.
The launch of the Harry Potter universe game is expected to be on a scale comparable to the phenomenal sales result of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
Also in the UK alone, Hogwarts Legacy was the undisputed number one (via GamesIndustry.biz), beating games like God of War Ragnarok or FIFA 23, at least when only considering boxed editions.
Hogwarts Legacy is clearly on the rise, and sales will increase even more, especially after the game launches on the next three hardware platforms: PS4 and XOne (April 4) and Nintendo Switch (July 25).
