Although not officially announced, it seems that EA has decided to remove Russia from its FIFA and NHL games. Tom Henderson, a well-known journalist who has shown on numerous occasions his knowledge of what is behind the scenes at Electronic Arts, has revealed it on Twitter :
“In a new internal company email, EA has stated that it will remove Russia from FIFA and the NHL due to the invasion of Ukraine.”
Hopefully more stories of the kind will arrive in the coming days, as the video game industry is turning to the nation facing invasion. Wargaming has gone so far as to lay off people in the wake of these events , while the Ukrainian deputy prime minister has openly singled out Sony and Microsoft for action against Russia as well.
There is a lot of movement in the sector. At the moment, EA has not confirmed or denied this information.
