The developers at Ninja Theory have shown brief images of Hellblade II. Although the video does not feature any gameplay, the focus is on the main character’s photorealistic facial expressions.
Senua’s Upcoming Saga: Hellblade II is one of the most promising titles and a potential ace up Microsoft’s sleeve. This is demonstrated, for example, in the latest trailer shown at the ongoing Game Developers Conference event.
This time, however, it’s not a game, but a short demonstration of the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 and MetaHuman technologywhich the developers of Ninja Theory are using in the game. The dramatic effects of its use, visible in the area of the characters’ facial expressions, can be seen below, and like the developers, we encourage you to view the images with headphones on your ears, because Hellblade II not only has beautiful graphics, but also an exceptional sound design.
Watching the video, it’s hard to disagree with the developers, who say that they’re “pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in real-time facial animation,” as well as resisting the impression that we might be dealing with the best expressions in video games yet. This will only whet fans’ already huge appetite for this title.
Finally, we remind you that The Senua Saga: Hellblade II is heading to PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X (it’s also coming to Game Pass). The developers have yet to announce a release date for the game..
