343 Industries releases their Halo Infinite update in mid-February, which includes grenade nerfs, reduced power spawns for Ranked Arena, and a direct response to the “weapon drop meta” used by competitive players looking to climb the Halo Infinite ranks. There are also some nice buffs for the S7 Sniper and a number of bug fixes for the FPS game.

Halo Infinite Community Manager John ‘Unyshek’ Junyszek shares big details coming with the next Halo Infinite patch, though he says players can expect the full patch notes to arrive when the release of the update. He explains, “The updates to this patch are a direct result of online player feedback and community-reported issues on the Halo Support site.”

Weapon racks in Ranked Arena are a primary focus, as 343 addresses indicate there is “too much power on the map in Ranked Arena” due to the high spawn rate and amount generous ammo in many weapons. As such, weapon racks will now only provide one weapon at a time, set to a “red rack” state after a weapon is picked up, and will remain so until the weapon is original disappears.

Junyszek adds, “As for ammo reductions on the weapons themselves in the rankings, players should expect them to come for the Heatwave, Stalker Rifle, CQS48 Bulldog, and Shock Rifle with the launch of season 3.” Hopefully, these changes should shake up Halo Infinite’s best weapons for multiplayer a bit, easing the effect of grabbing on how much time you can outplay the competition.

A Halo Infinite frag grenade nerf comes in the form of a reduction to its overall damage radius, which Junyszek says “should help reward skillful frag grenade placement while addressing concerns about effectiveness. spam” grenades in the game.

There’s also a direct response to the “weapon drop meta”, where players drop their weapons instead of switching to their secondary due to faster setup times. “Almost all top players have done this,” says Junyszek, “so we made sure that the weapon setup time after a weapon was dropped matched the speed of switching between weapons normally.”

Finally, there are some pretty big tweaks to improve the no-range error angle for the S7 Sniper, which means it will be more accurate when firing from the hip. Junyszek notes that the current properties “were consistent with previous Halo titles, but we’ve seen requests to make it even more accurate when firing from the hip.” So, good news for all shooters.

This Halo Infinite update is coming February 15, with full patch notes expected at the time. Also included are client and server stability improvements, as well as reductions in semi-automatic weapon jamming and fixes for a visual issue that causes them to appear as if firing twice.

A recent update introduced the Halo Reach Spartans cut to Infinite, while 343 Industries promises plans for Halo Infinite Forge haven’t changed despite recent layoffs from Microsoft affecting the studio.
