Now, just over a week away, the Halo Infinite Season 3 launch trailer gives us plenty to look forward to in 343 Industries’ Microsoft FPS game. One inclusion in particular, however, had us jumping out of our collective seats, teasing perhaps the best kind of multiplayer map, only for 343 to confirm that it won’t be on the official Community Collection playlist.

The Halo Infinite Season 3 launch trailer shows what players can expect from the new season, titled “Echoes Within”. 343 Industries proclaims it to be “Halo Infinite’s biggest multiplayer update yet”, and sees the arrival of Big Team Battle’s new Oasis map: a barren, rocky desert environment littered with numerous natural and constructed obstacles to clear your way.

Also coming are the new Arena Chasm map, an indoor environment that lets you fight through large metal structures and bridges of light on the space of the same name below, and the Arena Cliffhanger map, which combines green outdoor spaces with bases built on the cliff. There’s also the arrival of Escalation Slayer, a returning Halo game mode that players of other multiplayer games may know better as the Gun Game, where you’re tasked with scoring kills using a variety of weapons as you progress through the roster. .

Speaking of weapons, the M392 Bandit is the newest addition to Season 3 and is a DMR-style weapon – a semi-automatic rifle that should excel in mid-range combat, making it ideal for many of the new cards included with Echoes Within. There’s also a useful new gear, the Shroud Screen, which drops a dark bubble that players can walk through but not see, making it a great way to block choke points or cover your approach.

The most exciting part of the trailer for my money, however, is the ten seconds of footage beginning at 1:10, where the team shows off creator ArtNoob’s Art’s Room community map. It takes place in a Halo enthusiast’s bedroom and includes a PC setup, an Xbox cooler filled with drinks, stacks of copies of Halo games, and a Master Chief doll on the bed. That’s right: it’s a “little people, big world” map, hands down the coolest type of map you can play in any FPS.

However, despite appearing just before the trailer’s “Community Collection Playlist” segment, which reveals that players can earn active Battle Pass XP while playing these community-chosen maps, Forge lead designer Michael Schorr confirms: “Art’s Room is not planned to be part of the community collection. Its inclusion in the trailer was due to the aesthetics of the map.

Players are understandably disappointed, calling the decision “a really strange choice to even include in the trailer” given that the map won’t be part of 343’s curated playlist. You’ll still be able to play Art’s Room in custom games, of course, but it kinda hurts that we can’t see it in an official capacity.

However, the map creator says he’s still happy to be featured, saying he thought the map wouldn’t be included because he wasn’t asked to make any adjustments to it. “I was about to be surprised, 343 didn’t need me to change things up a bit to play on the map,” they said. answering machine to Schorr’s tweet, “Thanks for the highlight, team!”
