The American studio 343 Industries says that Halo Infinite will not be an open world game like Grand Theft Auto, The Witcher or Assassin’s Creed.

Still scheduled for later this year on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC, Halo Infinite was never intended to be an open world although last year’s tech demo may have given that impression.

According to the words of John Junyszek, the community manager of 343 Industries, it mainly aimed to illustrate the size and openness of certain levels. Nevertheless, fans can expect to find certain aspects of the first installment of the license, such as exploring several large and open places to accomplish side objectives.

Several biomes such as swamps, deep caves or areas devastated by clashes will be used to enrich the living side of the FPS. Do not rely on the presence of dangerous wild animals in the wild.

Finally, the base biome will be strongly inspired by the environments of the Pacific Northwest.

New revelations about Halo Infinite from 343 Industries

Random Halo Infinite encounters will be generated based on the Master Chief’s movements. On foot, the clashes will involve troops of enemy soldiers, while the followers of the means of transport of the license will be brought to cross numerous patrols carried.

If a dynamic day / night cycle will impact the behavior of certain opponents such as the grunts who fall asleep at night, a weather and wind simulation system will also have serious consequences during the adventure.

Finally, Halo Infinite cutscenes running on the Slipspace Engine graphics engine will be affected for weather conditions.
