A Reddit user discovered a Take-Two patent that may have something to do with GTA 6. Tech Director David Hynd and AI Lead Simon Parr from Rockstar North are listed as inventors. The technology revolves around computer-controlled characters in a virtual environment, whose behavior should become even more realistic in the future.
In one example it is mentioned that NPCs usually only realize relatively late that they are meeting an object in their environment. These situations are particularly noticeable in road traffic. With the new technology, AI characters should now be able to move more logically and react much earlier to appropriate circumstances. This includes, for example, reducing the speed in residential areas or performing driving maneuvers in certain dangerous situations.
