Genshin Impact update 3.5 saw the return of the Vibro-Crystal event from previous updates, bringing with it high-octane horde gameplay and unnecessarily complex explanations for game mechanics that are actually quite simple. Vibro-Crystal Verification will be available until March 27, and the first challenge, Heat Deflection, provides a good opportunity to get familiar with the game. Here’s how to rack up a high score.

After starting the event, you will face your first challenge. Heat Deflection will pit you against two 2.5 minute waves of enemies with the goal of taking out as many as possible and racking up points. The first wave will consist of Hydro Slimes, various types of Shrooms, Geovishaps, and Hydro Mimics like the ones you’ll encounter in the battle with Oceanid. The second wave will include Cryo Abyss Mages, Crackling Ax Mitachurls and Ruin Guards, Cruisers, Destroyers and Scouts.

Killing enemies will earn you points, and as we all know, points mean prizes. There are three tiers of rewards available for the challenge, to earn 500, 1,000, and 2,000 points respectively:

  • 500 points — 70 Primogems, 20000 Mulberry and 2 Guyun Shining Stone
  • 1000 stitches — 20000 Mora, 2 Hero’s Wit and 5 Luminous Sands from Guyun
  • 2000 dots — 2000 Mulberry, 3 mystical enhancement ores

The key to this challenge is the Vaporize elemental reaction. Not only does the challenge have a unique Leyline disorder that will trigger a shockwave that deals AOE damage whenever you trigger a vaporize reaction, but one of the Vibro-Crystal Harmonics options also depends on it. Setting his harmonics correctly can result in a significant increase in his attack or Pyro damage, depending on his preferred method of dealing damage, whenever he triggers the reaction.

Focusing on triggering vaporization reactions means stacking both teams with Pyro and Hydro fighters. Fortunately, three of the four test characters offered are eligible: Hu Tao and Yoimiya for Pyro, and Xingqiu for Hydro. If you lack powerful Pyro or Hydro characters in your usual lineup, these three will put you on the right track. Xingqiu in particular is widely regarded as one of the best Hydro supports in the game, and his Elemental Burst will allow the rest of your party to hit Hydro with their own attacks, even when he’s off the field.

If you managed to get another useful Hydro character for your other team, like Yelan, who can hit Hydro on multiple enemies at once with her elemental ability, you’ll be burning enemies in no time. However, if you don’t have a viable Hydro character for your second team, all is not necessarily lost. Putting an Anemo character on your first team, which will face many hydro-charged enemies, will help affect remaining enemies with hydro, allowing you to set up a vaporization reaction with your Pyro characters.

All of this should allow you to eliminate enemies in no time and easily reach the 2000 point threshold for the best rewards. However, if for some reason you’re having trouble reaching that peak even with test characters in hand, consider changing the difficulty level. Higher difficulties will put you against stronger enemies, but the point values will be doubled or quadrupled, allowing you to complete your objectives more easily than in normal mode. However, it’s worth noting that higher difficulty levels don’t offer bonus rewards themselves, they simply award more points for each enemy defeated.
