Genshin Impact’s day one sales estimates for Dehya show that players don’t care less about the metagame. If you’ve spent any time in or near the anime game community lately, you know that Dehya borders on useless gameplay-wise. But he’s one of the most likable and well-designed characters in the entire nation of Sumeru, which seems like a whole lot more important.
Dehya and Cyno banners are here, right after Hu Tao and Yelan had the most popular banner cycle we’ve seen since launch. The main DPS pair of Pyro and Electro likely won’t reach those same heights, but what they may lack in gameplay they make up for in every other category they count.
I’m sure there are more eloquent ways to put it, but Dehya and Cyno are just brilliant, both visually and in their writing. Even though his people in the desert are often treated like strangers, they show up to help and support others in Sumeru City in times of need.
Dehya’s Wall of Hope trailer even prompted players to donate thousands of dollars to an actual children’s charity, after showcasing their selfless actions and ideals. It’s hard to hate these two when talking about the totality of what makes a character, and the numbers below show it.
These numbers come from GenshinLab, a site that collects Chinese app store data and creates sales estimates to show the spending habits of this important section of the RPG playerbase.
As the chart shows, Dehya and Cyno managed to earn around 3,834,666 USD/GBP £3,209,960, which isn’t as high as Nahida and Yoimiya’s first-day high, but still much higher than the community expected.
Genshin Impact version 3.5 just went live yesterday, so you can start attracting the desert duo or saving up for Ayaka and Shenhe in the following character posters.
