A recent trailer for Genshin Impact Mika has players asking questions about the character’s English voice acting, and his voice actor, Robb Moreira, has stepped up to address those concerns. There is a slight difference in Mika’s voice when comparing his debut in version 3.1 to the most recent trailer released before the second half of the anime game’s version 3.5 update. But Moreira gives us a small idea of why this is so.
Mika has always seemed shy, which is the first impression he gives you when he walks up to read Varka’s letter at the Knights of Favonius headquarters in Mondstadt in patch 3.1. But his actual voice appears to be slightly altered in his latest gameplay trailer.
In his trailer, Mika talks about his passion for cartography and creating maps in a much lighter tone, which is perhaps why some gamers find it shocking. We’ve never really heard Mika sound so enthusiastic before.
Moreira responded to some fans on Twitter with explanations, after some stirring. They think it sounds too cheesy now, but Moreira says that’s how Mika usually sounds: he was just nervous and “out of his element” as he walked into a room full of knights with Jean, the tall acting master.
Moreira even has replied to more aggressive comments from fans, saying “not everything gets along with everyone and that’s totally cool”. In fact, he directed those detractors to Japanese VA, Sanpei Yuko., hoping that they will enjoy their performance more.
The Genshin Impact version 3.5 update will go live in about 24 hours, so you’ll be able to hear Moreira’s full voice acting as Mika if you manage to catch him pulling the character banners for Ayaka or Shenhe.
