Kaeya has always been one of the most compelling characters in Impacto Genshin. Right from the start, we know he’s a bit of a mystery. He is a cavalry captain in a country without royal cavalry. He is the brother of the owner of the Dawn Winery and the secret Batman Diluc. However, the HoYoVerse has always emphasized his secrets, and from the beginning he has been only one of two known people from the Fallen Land of Khaenri’ah. However, after the events of “Caribert” Archon Quest, it seems to gradually become a focal point of the overall story.

Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers for the Impacto Genshin the character Kaeya and the story up to “Caribert” in the article below.

What we have always known of Kaeya is that she hails from Khaenri’ah, the land cursed and slaughtered by the seven archon gods. It shows in his eyes, as only the people there have that distinctive pupil.

He is also an orphan. His father, whose first name we do not know, deliberately abandoned him on the outskirts of Mondstadt, near the Crepus Ragnvindr’s Dawn winery. Crepus took him in and raised him alongside his son, Diluc.

We also know that when Kaeya’s father left him, he said, “This is your chance. You are our last hope.

However, during these last Archon-seeking interludes with Dainsleif, we learned some facts that don’t add up. To have the eyes he has, Kaeya would have to be a pure-blooded Khaenri’ahn. However, after the events of the 500-year cataclysm in the land, every person in the land was cursed by the gods.

From “Caribert”, we have now seen the full extent of this curse. Half-breeds became Hilichurls and creatures of the Order of the Abyss. They are immortal and gradually wear out. At that time, they will head to The Chasm in Liyue. However, we do know that purebloods, such as Dainsleif and Chlothar, are subject to a different form of this curse. This makes them immortal, but it also leads to a deterioration in their sense of self, sanity, and body. Most of the people we know or have heard of in this region, like fatui member Pierro, are such immortal characters.

Kaeya is not.

Kaeya has aged since Dawn Winery left her and has since grown into an adult. He also appears to be in fairly good health. It’s certainly functional enough to regularly run errands for the Knights of Favonius and engage in your own endeavors. In comparison, Dainseif often seems to need to “rest” after activities with the traveler. Additionally, Chlothar was so cursed that she couldn’t perform crafting functions and was too weak to fight the monsters attacking her farm.

This means that Kaeya is not subject to the curse in Impacto Genshin. That alone is suspicious enough. However, there are other things we need to consider. The first is that we now know Kaeya’s original last name. His name is Alberich and he is a direct descendant of the founder of the Order of the Abyss, Clotario. Kaeya seems somewhat surprised by the revelation, however, she also has a “story” she tells about her abandonment at Dawn Winery which involves her father going for grape juice, rather than the last words.

Now we know that Caribert, the now-defunct Loom of Fate, regained his sense of self during the Archon Quest that bears his name. We also know that he took off his mask. But we didn’t see him again after that, and Chlothar evaded questions about him. Caribert is the illegitimate son of Clotario with a woman from Mondstadt.

Genshin Impact Kaeya Caribert

It is possible that Clotario had a son of pure blood. Kaeya could be from this line.

However, we also don’t know what the eyes of a half-blood Khaenri’ahn look like. (Not like we’ve ever seen one.) They may have one eye with this unique student and another that looks like their other country of birth. One possibility is that Kaeya is not a pureblood, she is descended from a surviving Caribert and deliberately hides her other eye to avoid questions.

There’s also the fact that Kaeya seems to know things that people aren’t aware of. He knew that Khaenri’ah was under Sumeru. Enough for him to try to get there for a while. He was aware that Dainsleif was looking at him, then he let it go that he knew and was looking at him too. He also didn’t really mention any potential connection he might have with Abyss Order.

Since Kaeya deliberately appeared in a Impacto Genshin Archon Quest involving Chlothar and Caribert, not to mention that Caribert is mysteriously absent at the end of this story, it doesn’t seem too out of the question to suggest that he is directly related to this branch of the family. He is obviously unaffected by the curse, but seems to have some understanding of Khaenri’ah. It’s unclear if the HoYoVerse might attempt to pull off some sort of “time travel” scheme that resulted in a healed Caribert recovering and becoming Kaeya, with Chlothar taking him through some sort of portal and then back into the past. It is also plausible that Caribert recovered and then started his own family. The Mondstadt connection, with Caribert’s mother being from there and Kaeya being left behind, seems like it could be a clue.

Genshin Impact continues to make Kaeya more remarkable

at the rate of Impacto Genshin updates, we may not get answers on Kaeya until Natlan or Snezhnaya appear in the game. However, it looks like he is a character of much greater importance that people may not realize. It could be satisfying to see him become a central figure all the time.

Impacto Genshin is available for PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile, and Kaeya is a free unit given to all players who play Archon Quest Prologue.
