It’s been a while since we’ve heard of Gears of War. But a new job posting from publisher Microsoft and developer The Coalition, which took the GoW reins from Epic Games in 2014, offers hope of a comeback for Marcus Fenix and his team. , and potentially the Gears of War 6 it was. rumor for a long time. the best co-op games ever and a faithful PC shooter, maybe, just maybe, it’s time for Gears of War to resurface.
A February 28 job posting specifically advertises a “Senior Game Designer – Gears of War,” with fuller details about the position offering further clues that GoW might be making a comeback. The job posting also specifically mentions Gears of War and says the Coalition is looking for someone to help “shape the future of IP.”
“The Coalition is a Microsoft self-development studio located in Vancouver, Canada,” the listing reads. “As the official home of the Gears of War franchise, our goal is to shape the future of intellectual property and push the boundaries of Microsoft entertainment platforms and devices.”
Although Gears of War isn’t mentioned anywhere else on the list, The Coalition says it’s looking for a “game designer to help create triple-A gaming experiences.”
Although the studio’s most recent project is the Unreal Engine 5 tech demo The Matrix Awakens, The Coalition carries the Gears of War name and serves as a dedicated creator for the series, similar to 343 Industries and Halo. If he is really working on a new triple-A game, in all likelihood, it will be GoW related.
It’s unclear if we could see a full Gears of War 6 or potentially a remake of the original game (remakes seem popular these days). Anyway, the return of GoW would be welcome.
