Granted, it might be a little too early to start counting the weeks between the Christmas holidays – whatever? – but it may not be for the Game Awards. The traditional end-of-year event will indeed return in 2021 to fill up with announcements and information on the games that will brighten up 2022.

We do not need to tell you that it is once again the unmistakable Geoff Keighley, who already heads the Opening Night Live event of gamescom, who announced the holding of the 2021 edition at the Microsoft Theater for a somewhat special edition since it will be held face-to-face with a limited number of participating guests. The ceremony will, of course, be broadcast online and live, while supporting 4K streaming and co-streaming.

Through an announcement made on Twitter, Geoff Keighley set the date for the meeting and the countdown has already started since the event will take place in just ten weeks, which brings us to December 9th ! However, in our latitudes, it will be necessary to take into account the time difference since the ceremony should take place, for us, on the night of December 9 to 10.

We are very excited to return to the Microsoft Theater for a special evening that will celebrate the past, present and future of video games. Our goal is to bring the entire community together to celebrate the world’s most powerful form of entertainment, and give voice to emerging voices that represent the future of media. – Geoff Keighley, producer and presenter of the event

As always, the Game Awards will be the ideal opportunity to broadcast previews of games that will follow one another at the whim of the little ones happenings of the event, such as musical performances, and other awards ceremonies.

At the moment, the nominees for the different categories have not yet been announced, especially as there are still a handful of games to be released by then.. But we should be fixed quickly as we get closer to the event.

Widely acclaimed last year, The Last of Us Part II had got their hands on many awards, while other games such as No Man’s Sky, Hades or Ghost of Tsushima had given themselves a nice spotlight. The bets are open for this 2021 edition: which games will be rewarded this year, according to you?
