Fortnite down: Epic Games is taking the Battle Royale shooter’s servers temporarily offline today – in preparation for Update 18.10. The developers have already announced a time: The downtime begins at 4 a.m. ET.

Then initially neither logins nor joining the game are possible. As usual, the matchmaking system goes down half an hour earlier: Around 3:30 a.m. ET, it is possible to join the last match before the maintenance work.

How long Fortnite remains offline today, is not apparent from the information. As a rule, however, the downtimes are short-lived. The servers should therefore return around lunchtime and play Fortnite as usual.

On Reddit, Epic Games announced that the developers want to make important changes to the XP system with Update 18.10, which they had previously announced.

So it should be easier again after the patch to collect experience points in Battle Royale mode. With the start of Season 8, players had criticized the current system. For example, players complain that they receive too few experience points for ending a match.

Epic Games already had in the that this did not correspond to the ideas of the developers communicated on Twitter last week. With the Fortnite Update 18.10, individual optimizations are being considered. Specific details should follow in the patch notes in the course of the morning.

Then it should also be clear which innovations the update also introduces. In addition, the developers announce that the update size on Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch is a bit more extensive this time than usual.
