Last week, Microsoft spent a lot of time celebrating the 10th anniversary of (email protected) and as part of this, it was announced that (email protected) was rolling out a new “Developer Accelerator Program”.
The idea behind this program is to “give underrepresented creators the resources and information needed to bring their creativity, innovation and originality to Xbox”, and the announcement drew a lot of industry attention, including former PlayStation boss Shawn Layden shared his praise for it.
Here’s how he reacted to the news:
“I strongly believe that we can’t reach the billions of gamers we hope to reach without empowering more developers who have access to other communities,” said James Lewis, Senior Manager of Creative Partner Programs at Xbox.

As mentioned in the quote above, the idea behind this program is to “create gaming experiences that appeal to new audiences” to fulfill Xbox’s mission of reaching billions of gamers, and that means “actively seeking and give developers unique perspectives to create games that appeal to diverse audiences on Xbox.
