final fantasy 16 Combat director Ryota Suzuki has confirmed that the game’s New Game Plus mode will present a tougher challenge than Devil May Cry 5. This is due to a new scoring system that is hidden during the player’s first match, but later it becomes much more obvious the second time around.
Final Fantasy 16’s second game focuses on combat performance
Players are encouraged to enjoy the story of the game in the first playthrough and focus more on getting the job done. On the other hand, the second game will bring aspects such as combat performance to the fore. Suzuki told Ars Technica that the second Final Fantasy 16 game, which hasn’t been officially called New Game Plus but looks suspiciously like one, “will throw down the gauntlet and provide a challenge that goes beyond what you see in Devil May Cry.” V.
In addition to the second game, there will be other game modes such as the arcade mode which has been dubbed the Ultimania mode. This will use a rating system that ranks the player’s performance in combat. Suzuki states that “we think maintaining an S rank throughout Ultimania mode is more difficult than doing the same in Dante Must Die”. Dante Must Die mode was the highest difficulty level players could face in Devil May Cry 5.
If you’re not sure right now if this game will be for you, a demo is coming two weeks before the game itself that will give you a chance to try out the fight for yourself.
