Today, the GfK institute is disseminating a map revealing the biggest hits of 2020 in physical format in 19 European countries. Unsurprisingly, FIFA 21 has imposed itself on the continent, but three countries are exceptions.

As announced last week, Switch Animal Crossing exclusivity: New Horizons has risen to first place in the ranking of physical sales in France for the year 2020. “This is the first time in seven years (GTA V had dominated sales in 2013, Editor’s note) that it is not a FIFA at the top of the table, and the first time in twelve years that it is not a FIFA / Call of Duty / GTA “, specified the journalist Oscar Lemaire.

The other two countries where FIFA 21 is not the best-selling game in the box are Finland, with Minecraft, and Russia, with The Last of Us Part II. GfK emphasizes in its communicated that the game of Naughty Dog is found in the top sales in the Czech Republic, Finland, Slovakia and Sweden.

Behind the juggernaut FIFA, which also dominated the European market in 2019, 2018 and 2017, Animal Crossing New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are the other two best-selling physics games in 2020 on the continent. GfK also indicates that the eternal GTA V and Minecraft “are still so popular” despite their seniority. The former notably performed well in Eastern Europe, Denmark and Portugal, while the latter hit hard in Spain, Portugal and Italy, in addition to winning in Finland. Note that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are not mentioned.

The list of 19 countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, United Kingdom.
