Koei Tecmo America announced today that the remastering of its horror classic, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is now available for pre-order on all the platforms on which it will be available next March.
The long-awaited return to the spooky saga is currently in development and will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (via Steam) next March 9, 2023.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse takes place on Rogetsu Island, set in southern Japan, a decade after a mysterious event in which five girls mysteriously disappeared during the Moonlight Festival.
Ten years after the disappearance, two of these girls are found dead and the three survivors (Ruka Minazuki, Misaki Aso and Madoka Tsukimori) decide to return to the island to solve the mystery that cost their friends their lives and the loss of their their memories. Players will find terrifying spirits inhabiting the island who will attempt to stop them.
Fortunately, you have the power of the Camera Obscura, a special camera that can not only repel ghosts, but can also seal their powers using photographs. Get far enough in the game and you can use the Spirit Torch, a rare artifact that uses moonlight from a Spirit Stone to defeat spirits.
The latest trailer serves as your first look at the game’s mechanics, including the photo mode, where you can capture the spookiest moments of your adventure. The trailer also shows for the first time the alternate costumes each character will be able to wear, including originals as well as altered versions. This also includes brand new outfits to study while still being in style.
Along with the standard edition of the game, KOEI TECMO America will also release a special Digital Deluxe edition which includes a set of bonus “Rogetsu Isle Dinner Party” costumes, a digital art book, and the game’s digital soundtrack.
Plus, if you purchase the digital edition of the game before March 22, 2023, you’ll receive an additional bonus: Protagonist Ruka’s exclusive costume, Marie Rose Outfit, straight from the Dead or Alive series. Fans who pre-order the game before the March 9 release will also receive other extras such as the “Fox Mask” which has a version for each character: Red and White for Ruka, Black and Red for Misaki, and Black and Blue for Chosiro. Ruka Misaki and Chosiro also receive a limited edition “Spirit Stone Flashlight Har” hat.
Finally, if you have a Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water save, the new Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse game will recognize it and you will receive the “Camera Obscura Hat” as a gift.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC (via Steam) on March 9, 2023.
