A fan of elderberry ring reinvented RykardLord of Blasphemy, in a style nes of 8 bit. Rykard, an optional Elden Ring boss who first appeared as the God-Devouring Serpent, was Ranni and Radahn’s brother.

Fans will easily remember Rykard as the hideous, gigantic, human-faced serpent beast who is obsessed with eating things to gain his power. Although Elden Ring has many uncomfortable or disturbing boss designs, Rykard provides a grotesque and visceral experience for the player even after defeat.

Unlike most enemies defeated in the Elden Ring, Rykard’s body will partially remain after his defeat, and the player may find his devotee, Tanith, trying to gain his power by eating him. While the game encompasses many themes and tones, the setting feels more like a horror-themed experience than a larger epic fantasy.

So it’s no surprise that in reddit user Praetor64’s NES-style rendering of Lord of Blasphemy, Rykard seems to fit perfectly into a Castlevania or Metroid title.

Considering Rykard’s goal was to become strong enough to “devour the gods themselves”, it’s understandable that he needed to become a fearsome creature. Despite his monstrous nature, it’s important to remember that Rykard was once a human and even had a daughter.

Fortunately, Rykard’s daughter can have a happy ending, something rare in Elden Ring. Rendered in pixel-art, Rykard conveys a strong sense of horror with a skin-lifting color palette in Praetor64’s art.
