On April 28, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and 1, Battlefield 1943, and Mirror’s Edge will be removed from digital stores, meaning players will no longer be able to purchase them. Then, on December 8, the game’s online services will be shut down.
Bad Company 2 and 1, 1943, and Mirror’s Edge will be removed and closed
EA announced in a blog post titled “Battlefield Legacy – Sunsetting Announcement” that all four games would be delisted in April and their online services would be shut down in December.
By the end of 2023, it will no longer be possible to buy these games digitally and online services will not work.
For those interested in the single-player components of these games, there’s good news. For Bad Company 2 and 1, as well as Mirror’s Edge, players can “continue playing and use their respective features offline, such as the single-player campaign.”
While this is disappointing news for many dedicated Battlefield and Mirror’s Edge fans, EA has at least given players generous time to have one last “Oorah” on the multiplayer servers.
For those on PS5 or PS4, the latest Battlefield game is currently available via PS Plus. While not Bad Company 2, it has seen improvements implemented by recent patches. And no, 2042 will not close despite the rumors.
