E3 2021 will be a reality in the form of a completely free digital event open to the public after skipping the 2020 edition. We tell you what we know so far, in this note!

E3 2021 will mark the return of the most important video game fair in the world in the form of a completely free digital event open to the public.

After skipping 2020 due to the pandemic, health crisis, and quarantines throughout the world, little by little alternatives are being sought for their return. This year, according to rumors, it will be a digital event that we can access from home.

For the 2021 edition of E3, the organization had to find a partner when it came to exposing the demos and their content.

Early rumors suggest that this will be GeForce Now, which will provide their technology and infrastructure so that the different companies can expose what their next titles are about. However, this is a part that could perhaps be paid, or at least, invitation-only. This is something that the organization eventually denied.

In a tweet, the organization clarified that “E3 2021 is a free digital show for all the public“. ESA, the giant behind the event, declared in a tweet that “there will be no elements of E3 2021 that are behind a payment model“.

Nobody is sure if this is a change of plans after seeing the reactions of the public, or if it is something completely different, but it does not matter because the official statements leave no room for doubt.

What kind of event will E3 2021 be?

Beyond the obvious answer being “digital and free”, the truth is that nobody knows what things will be at E3. For now it is not clear if industry giants such as SHE, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Activision, Square Enix and more will participate, and if they do, in what form will it be.

In recent years, accentuated in the pre-pandemic, the tendency was to have their own events outside the framework of the convention in their own settings.
