Kakao Games, the publisher behind the popular MMORPG Black Desert Online, are releasing the survival game Dysterra for the PC together with the developer studio MagiQ. That has now been announced. The game sends you into a dystopian future in which the earth is completely orphaned and destroyed.

Dystera is what the developers call a “large-scale multiplayer survival game”. So it will be a question of survival in the team and in terms of action. In addition to shootings from the first-person perspective, an extensive crafting system should provide variety, both in combat à la Fortnite, as well as to produce objects and probably when building bases.

Not only do enemies make it difficult for you to survive happily, the surroundings also target you. Natural disasters can destroy your structures in one fell swoop.

“We are developing a golden balance that allows new survivors to enjoy the game for a long time, but at the same time ensures that the unique excitement of a survival game is present,” said the developers. “We want to develop Dysterra as a survival game that many players can connect with and immerse themselves in.”

Dysterra is brought to life with the help of Unreal Engine 4 and is currently in the alpha phase of development, so it should take a while until the release. At least an early access launch is planned for 2021, but there is no exact date for it yet.

Interested players can already take part in a global alpha test, the feedback then flows directly into the development. You can register now via a link on the game’s Steam page, the first test phase will start on March 18th. This will be followed by further alpha tests, but there is no date for them yet.
