Doom Eternal is apparently dipped in more color for Ancient Gods 2.

Passionate demon slayers have been waiting for the second DLC for Doom Eternal for some time. Now you’re seeing a leaked first look of Ancient Gods Part 2 that promises an interesting change in the color palette. It becomes greener, more colorful and thus represents a change from the usual red-brown.

A possible release date has also emerged – and a very close one on top of that. A listing in the Microsoft Store speaks of March 18, 2021 as a date for the launch of Ancient Gods 2 for Doom Eternal. This was noticed by a Twitter user who also published the screenshots at the same time.

A trip into the countryside

Because of its setting, Doom Eternal has always relied on gloomy game worlds, and due to Mars and the invasion of hell, also on many reds and browns. The upcoming second part of the DLC series The Ancient Gods is apparently about the destroyed earth, which has now been conquered by the plant kingdom after the demonic invasion.

The pictures show streets and high-rise canyons, which are densely overgrown with green moss and reminds a little of the game world of The Division 2. In any case, it looks very unusual for a Doom, which can offer fans of the series a welcome change.

The shown Imp monster, with its purple claws, is also much more colorful than its vanilla counterpart. This suggests that other enemies may have been repainted as well.

Would fit in time

Developer id Software wants to show a teaser trailer for the new expansion on March 15th. It would take time if a (not quite so) surprising release was due on March 18th. By the way, the developers themselves already gave an artwork for the new DLC.

You can read what we think of the game in the Doom Eternal review. The whole thing is also available as a test video.
