Does Dark and Darker work on Steam Deck?? Best described as DnD meets Skyrim, Dark and Darker should be an epic FPS fantasy RPG that you won’t want to put down. Like Dungeons and Dragons, co-op is the name of the game, so you can play with friends around a traditional tabletop table using Valve’s portable powerhouse.
Whether you’re planning a portable quest or looking to explore dungeons on your desktop, the system requirements for Dark and Darker are worth checking out. This will help you set up the Steam Next Fest demo and avoid performance issues related to PC specs.
¿Its Dark and Darker Steam Deck compatible?
Yes, Dark and Darker will work on Steam Deck, as our tests confirm that the hardcore RPG runs on the handheld. You’ll have to tweak a few settings to increase the fps, but the first-person fantasy adventure runs relatively smooth on the handheld.
However, it should be noted that Steam Deck compatibility may change, our experience applies to the Dark and Darker demo only. The game is still in alpha, and future changes under the hood may hamper handheld RPGs. That said, there’s a good chance the co-op hug will retain support throughout its development, and it could eventually achieve ‘Verified’ status with a few tweaks.
On that note, Valve says it’s still learning about Dark and Darker compatibility, and there are some aspects that would currently prevent it from being on the “Great on Deck” list. For starters, the UI elements aren’t designed for the Deck screen, so the text and icons are small. Official gamepad support isn’t a big deal either, so you’ll have to improvise using trackpads as your mouse cursor.
That said, there are already some great community skins available that fill this particular gap, meaning you can play Dark and Darker using Valve’s controls without too much trouble. You can even pair your handheld with the best Steam Deck dock and a PC controller if you feel like kicking back on the couch.
