In May 2021, PlayStation announced the start of its collaboration with Discord. As a reminder, Discord is an instant messaging software that allows you to chat in real time in writing, orally, and even in video form with your friends. You can chat privately, in groups, and even join servers based on your interests. As with most chat software, you can format your messages and use emojis, gifs, and stickersalthough the codes used by Discord are a bit different from those you might be used to on apps like Skype.

This partnership aims to improve the integration of the Playstation experience with Discord to allow you to get closer to your friends and communities. Today, it is now possible to link your PlayStation Network account to your Discord account to view your activity on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 directly on your profile!

If you have already connected your Discord account to another service that allows show your activity to your contacts – like Steam for example – the concept is the same: once your Discord account is linked to the PSN service, the game you are playing on PS4 or PS5 will be visible as an activity. You can even choose to show your PlayStation Network ID on your profile so your Discord friends can add you and even join your game if playing multiplayer !

To connect your Discord account to your PlayStation Network account, you must first launch Discord via the app, the web or your phonebefore going to the User Settings. Then open the tab Connections and select the icon PlayStation Network.

A browser window will open and ask you to authorize the connection. Just fill in your PlayStation credentials to link the two accounts.

Once the accounts are linked, you will find that new options appear in the tab Connections from Discord. To know, Show on my profile and Show PlayStation Network as Status. You will then be able to show all your friends what you are playing on the console, provided that your privacy settings are regulated so that your activity is visible to everyone.

Please note that this option is being implemented gradually in several countries, so it is possible that it is not yet visible in your settings, but will be soon. Keep an eye out!
