After the Diablo 4 beta experiences, fans of the series raised concerns about repetitive dungeons. Blizzard explains its decision.
Select players who pre-ordered Diablo IV have been sharing their thoughts on the closed beta (which ran from March 17-20) for several days. They already had many reservations, and now a new problem has been added: the repetitive design of the dungeons which causes boredom. Blizzard reassures fans and explains their decision.
Repetitive dungeons in reverb
When playing the Diablo IV beta using characters, requiring you to restart the game each time, players noticed a rather unusual issue.
- Dungeons, which in previous episodes of Diablo they were procedurally generated, in the last episode they are a combination of the same room layouts in random order.
- Fans started sharing their observations on Reddit, which found support among other gamers.
Game director Joe Shely in an interview for NME decided to dispel the concerns and doubts of the players.
“The dungeon feedback really interests us. The game world consists of five areas, and in the beta, players could only explore one of them: Fractured Peaks. We have included over 100 dungeons in the game, and many of them are not in the starting location. We hope that as you progress with your character, you will experience adventures in many different dungeons, rather than the same dungeon over and over again,” said Joe Shely.
During the interview, Shely also mentioned the wide variety of missions that will await players in the full version of the game.
“We have different types of mechanics for different dungeons. Some involve killing all monsters, others involve completing assigned objectives. It’s really about experiencing all the game world dungeons have to offer beta players, who only received a fraction of what we expected, we didn’t see,” Shely explained. .
In a Reddit thread about Fergusson and Shely’s separate interview with Eurogamer, fans expressed their displeasure with the dungeon information and their concern that until Diablo 4 is released, nothing will change in this regard. Shely, however, said that “the similarity of the dungeons is intentional”, in order to tie them to their location in the game world..
The devil is not as black as he is painted
The Diablo IV closed beta has been played by over a million players who, despite a large number of bugs and server issues, seem satisfied. some fans even sayingthat the title already sounds better than Diablo III.
Recall that the open beta will begin on March 24 at 5:00 p.m. CET and will last until March 27. In this context, we will test two other character classes: the necromancer and the druid. Beta details can be found in the update summary.
Diablo 4 will debut on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X on June 6 this year. The title is a thoroughbred representative of the isometric hack’n’slash genre. Like Diablo III, the fourth installment in the series will require a permanent internet connection; the reason is network services including cross-platform function.
