Kadokawa has started shipping Volume 1 of the manga Detroit: Become Human – Tokyo Stories. It is an official spin-off comic based on the adventure game of the same name. The story is set in Tokyo, following a human girl and several sentient androids. It costs 726 JPY, or about $5.30. (Thanks, Game Watch!)

Unlike how the game Detroit: Become Human depicted a rather difficult political situation between humans and androids, Japan in the year 2038 embraced life with them in the manga. For example, Reina is a popular android idol. There is a positive and optimistic coexistence between humans and androids. However, in the shadows, the humans who lost their jobs to the androids took out their frustrations on them. In the midst of all this, deviant androids (those who have acquired sentience) began to appear. Detroit: Become Human – Tokyo Stories will focus on an android rebellion story, although it will focus on a human girl.

The manga was first released in July 2022. As of this writing, there doesn’t appear to be an official English localization.

Detroit: Become Human – Tokyo Stories manga volume 1 is available in bookstores in Japan. You can also buy it through Amazon, both in physical and digital format.
