The Destiny 2 exotic weapons Quicksilver Storm and Touch of Malice are finally getting their fix in the popular FPS game. According to a tweet from Bungie’s Team Destiny2 Twitter account, these changes will arrive with this week’s Destiny 2 patch.
“In the next patch this week, we’ve scheduled a hotfix to address an issue that was causing Touch of Malice and Quicksilver Storm to deal less damage than intended to minor enemies,” reads the March 27 tweet. “Red bass will once again live in fear of these exotics, as nature intended.”
Quicksilver Storm, a weapon reward available to people who pre-ordered Lightfall, has been buggy since the expansion released in late February. The Touch of Malice is a raid exotic from the Destiny 2 King’s Fall loot table, so damage issues are particularly frustrating for players as they can be difficult to obtain.
While it’s not entirely clear what issue was causing these weapons to deal less damage than intended, Bungie’s tweet implies that both will now deal more damage to red bar enemies or low level enemies. This is a welcome update for multiplayer play as many Guardians have been frustrated with its lack of usefulness.
Even when bugged, many players say the Quicksilver Storm is still one of their favorite weapons in the game. Bungie announced it was aware of the weapon damage issues on Lightfall’s release day, which has many people wondering why it took the team so long to initiate a fix. However, in a recent Reddit post, Bungie acknowledged that the weapon was taking longer than expected and was “complicated” to repair.
Touch of Malice was less of a concern due to relatively few players having the weapon. It will be interesting to see if the changes affect its usefulness and make it a more viable Destiny 2 weapon.
