Corona

Numerous events have had to be canceled since March 2020 due to the corona pandemic. This affects pretty much every event industry and most major events – for example entire tours by musicians. But the European football championship, which was announced for last year, had to be postponed to this year in view of the pandemic.

Gaming events were not spared either. Above all, the E3, the largest video game event in the world and one of the events that numerous gamers around the world look forward to every year, fell through last year due to the pandemic. This year, the E3 cannot take place as usual, but it will be held anyway, just in a slightly different form.

E3 2021

Instead of Los Angels, which was the usual location for the mega event, this year it will take place in completely digital form. Even if the concern is justified that the line-up could be a bit tighter as a result, some major developers have already confirmed their participation – including Nintendo, Xbox, Konami and Ubisoft. EA, Activision and Sony are not yet officially there, but this is not uncommon, and it happened a lot before the pandemic.

The Entertainment Software Association, which is running the event, has not yet given any clear guidance as to how the event will play out in detail. It is only known that it will be digital for viewers.

It is also known that participation in the entire event will be free – with no VIP packages or paywall features. Fans can expect tons of trailers, game demonstrations and pre-filmed interviews with the biggest names in the industry.

The organizer says specifically: “We’re evolving this year’s E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still try to delight fans with big reveals and insider opportunities that make this the must-have central stage for video games.“What do you expect from this year’s E3?
