Deep Rock Galactic will continue to be supplied with new content- now the developers are announcing what is probably the biggest update to date and are giving a first look at it the future of the acclaimed co-op shooter: “Deep Rock Galactic is here to stay and we will not let up- on the contrary,” write the creators in their blog post.

Update 34: Mod-Support

For April 2021, the team is planning a smaller update with an important innovation: Mod support! For the first time, players can create their own creations, a savegame profile protects your score before failed experiments with mods.

In the future, mods will be shared, filtered or switched on and off in a separate menu, but Steam Workshop will not yet be supported at the start. Update 34 also includes balance adjustments to several weapons and overclock modifications.

Overclocks give some weapons completely new functions.

Update 35: A huge package

Update 35 should be significantly more extensive. The developers are aiming for a release in the third quarter of 2021, between July and September.

After the last updates were very tightly timed, you now consciously plan ahead in order to create more space for profound changes and creative ideas, according to the statement.

The timetable for Update 35 is therefore not yet final, but the following features are planned:

  • New mission type: Deep Rock Galactic has a new mission for gamers that is said to be “very cool, very terrible and extremely lucrative,” the announcement said.
  • New weapons: Fans have been wanting a bigger arsenal for years, and now new guns are finally being added. You are currently still trying out different ideas, according to the makers.
  • Neue Overclocks: There should be fresh overclocks for both new and existing weapons. These upgrades fundamentally change the behavior of the ratchets and open up new areas of application.
  • Neue Cosmetics & UI: The developers are also working on a new system for skins and new cosmetic items. In addition, the interface is being overhauled and modernized.
  • And maybe also: In discussion (but not yet decided) are new mission variants and random events and changes to the Space Rig, the space base headquarters of the game.

Most recently, the studio behind Deep Rock Galactic reported a success story at the end of January: They had achieved ten times their expected sales targets.

Shortly afterwards, completely new climate zones and several new enemy types appeared in Update 33.
