The best Dead Spacesuit Upgrades They appear as elusive blueprints scattered throughout Ishimura, and taking the time to track them down can mean the difference between life and death, or worse, a complete inventory. Resource Integration Equipment, also known as RIG, are specialized suits designed to assist the user in various ways. RIGs come standard with built-in navigation and health management systems, but that’s only a small part of the benefits they offer.
Isaac begins his ill-fated visit to Ishimura while wearing his default costume, the aptly named RIG Standard Engineer, but it doesn’t offer much protection against Necromorphs. To survive, you need to keep an eye out for dead spacesuit upgrades. Each grants additional armor and inventory space, both of which will come in handy in what’s shaping up to be one of the best PC games of 2023.
Dead Spacesuit Upgrades
You can expect to acquire Dead Space suit upgrades in several ways. The vast majority appear as schematics, which must be collected to make them available for purchase in the store.
Here are all of the Dead Space suit updates:
- Costume level 1: Provides 0% damage resistance and 12 inventory slots.
- Costume level 2: Available for purchase in the store for 10,000 credits at the end of Chapter 1. Provides 5% damage resistance and 18 inventory slots.
- Tier 3 Outfit (Intermediate Engineer Rig): The blueprint can be found on the bench in the EVA Prep Room during Chapter 4 and is available for purchase in the Shop for 20,000 Credits thereafter. Provides 10% damage resistance and 22 inventory slots.
- Level 4 suit (intermediate miner gear): The blueprint can be found on a workbench in the Equipment Workshop in Chapter 7, and is then available for purchase in the store for 35,000 credits. Provides 15% damage resistance and 26 inventory slots.
- Level 5 Suit (Advanced Engineering Equipment): The blueprint can be found on a bench in the locker room of the Z-Ball field, and is then available for purchase in the store for 60,000 credits. Provides 20% damage resistance and 30 inventory slots.
- Suit Level 6 (Advanced Soldier Gear): Available for purchase in the store for 99,000 credits during the new game Dead Space plus. Provides 30% damage resistance and 30 inventory slots.
Dead Space Cosmetic Suit Updates
In addition to the Dead Space costume upgrades you can unlock by completing the horror game’s story, there are various cosmetic and texture combinations available by purchasing the Dead Space Deluxe Edition or subscribing to EA Play Pro. cosmetics are unlocked automatically when entering the store for the first time. Unlike basic outfits, you don’t have to buy them with credits; just go to the Storage tab to equip them.
Here are the updates to the Dead Space cosmetic combinations:

- Lone Survivor Outfit

- adventure suit
There are also several Dead Space cosmetic suit upgrades that can be unlocked regardless of which edition or subscription service you purchased: the DS-08 Legacy Rig and the Burnished Suit.
The DS-08 Legacy Rig is a replica of the Intermediate Engineer RIG used by Isaac Clarke in the original Dead Space. It is available as standard for all players and unlocks automatically as soon as you enter the store. In contrast, Dead Space’s burnished costume requires you to reach the end credits on Impossible difficulty before you can unlock it.
