Dead Rising 5 Was Heading To Mexico Before It Was Canceled
The plot of Dead Rising: Dia de los Muertos remains a mystery, though the game’s five levels (Barrio, Hotel, Camps, Mayan Temple, and Safehouse) that level designer Nick Sinkewicz was involved in (thanks to ResetEra) were based in Mexico. . The Barrio level was based on a section of an actual town in Mexico, though it apparently didn’t go beyond the gray box. Apparently the most comprehensive level was Camps. Sinkewicz described it as a “jungle level with lots of zombies to slay and various gang bases to raid until you reach a final boss” who was a “crazy drug dealer with an electrified fake metal arm” called El Guapo.
The second video shows an early prototype loot container mechanic, designed to “contextualize different drops, clean up the environment, and free up memory.” The images are from 2017, a year after the release of Dead Rising 4. The unannounced game was the result of Capcom Vancouver’s promise to focus on its flagship Dead Rising franchise. Unfortunately, it seems development was halted when the studio shut down in 2018 and the game was later cancelled.
