Some classes in Dark and Darker can have deft nuances and touches that require thoughtful strategy; the barbarian is not one. Barbarians tend to wield the biggest weapons they can find in dungeons, often howling with their abilities and crushing anything that dares to look twice at them. With the largest health pool of any class by a significant margin, and the only class with an ability that provides health regeneration after killing a player, the well-played Barbarian is a terrifying threat in groups or alone. Here’s our ideal Barbarian build guide for Dark and Darker.

Best Barbarian Perks in Dark and Darker
While some classes, like the Rogue, can benefit from careful ganking planning, the Barbarian simply doesn’t care. Knocking down open doors and strutting boldly down hallways while opening everything in their path is the barbaric way, so players will want to opt for their perks to benefit naturally. In groups, Barbarians tend to be on the front line alongside fighters, thanks to their massive health pool. Try these perks, in order:
- Savage
- Savage gives players 10% bonus damage if they are not wearing chest armor. It’s an easy pick if you’re playing with a party that offers a Cleric to help restore health lost during melee, but it works well in solo play if you’re just going with your default team.
- Ax Specialization
- If you use an ax, you gain ten additional true damage added to your attacks. This means Barbarians tend to stick with Axes, as Swords simply can’t offer the same value until the High Roller dungeon. However, this also means your Battle Ax starter weapon deals 45 damage per hit, the highest base damage in the game.
- butcher’s shop
- Carnage can be a tricky ability to play, so the user should be careful. Carnage increases your strength by 10, for 7 seconds, for each kill. With the ability to split, this can very quickly turn the Barbarian into a room clearing nightmare, but it takes planning and strategy to maximize its impact. Long story short, kill the little things first.
- morale injection/To break
- If you focus on PvP, Morale Boost will regenerate 12% health after killing a player. Every time you land your shots you should be able to damage anyone else on the map, but it will only trigger when you After you kill an enemy player. If that’s too spicy a warning, Smash will allow you to quickly blast most wooden doors in the game with a single weapon swing, allowing you to move extremely quickly.

The best barbarian team
No problem with this one – equip your barbarian with the best ax you can find to synergize with him. Ax Specialization, put on some leather and dive into the dungeons. With statistics, aim to Fortaleza (for HP and attack damage) and Will for pure magic resistance. While Barbarians can destroy most Rogues, Mages will quickly become your downfall no matter how bad the mage nerf is.
Best Barbarian Skills
The Barbarian really comes to life in PvP, which is why you’ll want to max out your PvP damage with specific abilities.
- War cry (Party)
- A brilliant ability that can make most fights quite unfair to your opponents. Be sure to use this ability After start the fight, as the 25% HP buff only lasts 7 seconds. Using it before your party can close the distance wastes it.
- reckless attack
- A Barbarian always wants a reckless attack available – ignore 75% of your enemy’s armor for your next hit. This effectively attenuates even the most Chad-like warriors in the dungeon, and is very evident when your opponent has a large amount of armor equipped, even in the heat of battle.
- Fury (Solo)
- Rage greatly increases your strength for “a brief period”, but it’s more than enough to handle most fights. The 20% defense reduction while active is a minor note at best – just hit them until you don’t have to worry about getting hit anymore.
