Cyberpunk 2077 has been updated on Steam – it’s now “verified” on the Steam Deck, meaning it should work without any issues.
Proponents of “great” mobile games have reason to rejoice: from now on Cyberpunk 2077 it is “verified” for compatibility with Steam Deck. It is true that it was previously possible to launch the title on Valve’s portable device, but checked means it is now better optimized.
In general, games on Steam can have one of three Steam Deck compatibility states: “unsupported”, “playable”, and “verified”. The first means that parts or the whole game is not working on the device. The fact that a title is “playable” may require manual configuration of the graphics settings (so that it does not stutter), as well as the fact that the game text is sometimes small and difficult to read. In the case of Cyberpunk 2077, what seems most important is fixing this shortcoming in the Steam Deck. In addition to this, verification means for the game that:
- all functions are available when using default control settings;
- the game displays the Steam Deck controller icons;
- the game’s default visual settings work well on Steam Deck.
To date, only two CD Projekt games have been verified on Valve’s device. , namely The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Blood War: The Witcher Tales. As with other games in The Witcher series, the first part has a playable status and the second part does not support Steam Deck.
Cyberpunk 2077’s updated status could be a good opportunity for Steam Deck owners to return to Night City, especially as the game’s first and only expansion, Phantom Liberty, arrives.
