There is a lot of rant about Cyberpunk 2077, which recently got a new, major update. The start of the action RPG was overshadowed by bugs and poorly optimized versions for PS4 and Xbox One. Nevertheless, CD Projekt Red has the most successful digital launch of a game ever with the title.
Cyberpunk 2077 has sold extremely well
SuperData reports: “Cyberpunk 2077 had the biggest game launch of all time, measured in terms of digital revenue and digital units sold (10.2 million). A successful marketing campaign and the reputation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt generated the necessary hype, so that CD Projekt Red’s title could break records indefinitely despite issues like console performance issues, widespread glitches and the game’s removal from PlayStation Store. An extremely high proportion of digital sales (80%) took place on the PC, which is likely to be due to the delisting on the PlayStation and the general condition of the console versions. ”
SuperData also explains that these numbers include the refunds. These have the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 (buy now 59,49 €) hardly affected. Cyberpunk 2077 is still struggling with problems, including other bugs that are currently affecting the main story. CD Projekt Red is working on solving these problems and also further improving the performance – especially on PS4 and Xbox One. In addition, DLCs will appear later in the year, which will bring new content with them, and there is also a separate multiplayer part of the action RPG far on the horizon.
