Nvidia has not yet announced the RTX 3080 Ti - but it still seems certain. Nvidia has not yet announced the RTX 3080 Ti – but it still seems certain.

As far as new graphics cards are concerned, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021, which ended on Friday, didn’t really bring anything new – at least not for the classic desktop PC. Only the RTX 3060 was announced, there was hardly anything of the new Radeons, nothing to be seen of the RTX 3080 Ti.

However, two reports are currently making the rounds on the Internet that at first glance could hardly be more different. What about the RTX 3080 Ti – where is it?

CES 2021: At the fair there was more to see than innovations from Intel, AMD and Nvidia. In the GameStar video we summarize the most interesting new products:

RTX 3080 Ti or not, that is the question

On the one hand, there is Gamers Nexus: In a video from January 13, 2021 it is said that the release of the RTX 3080 Ti has been postponed indefinitely. The same applies to any super models in the RTX 3000 series. The information should come from board partners.

The reason for the postponement is probably due to the already difficult situation on the graphics card market. The RTX 3080, like most other ampere GPUs, is hardly available and if so, then only well above the recommended retail price for the Founders Edition.

Geizhals currently has no offers for the RTX 3080. Geizhals currently has no offers for the RTX 3080.

On the other hand there is Videocardz: Accordingly, manufacturer Palit is preparing a whole series of RTX 3080 Ti models. This information in turn goes back to an entry in the Eurasian Economic Commission, EEC for short, which also dates from January 13, 2021. A total of 27 RTX 3080 Ti are listed there.

What does that mean for the RTX 3080 Ti?

On closer inspection, the two messages are actually not mutually exclusive. The truth should be somewhere in the middle. So maybe we won’t see the RTX 3080 Ti in February, as the rumor mill last suspected, but a little later in the year.

Nvidia should therefore be wary of a scenario similar to the one we saw with the RTX 3080 and want to avoid problems with availability. So that speaks in favor of a “postponement” – although the choice of words is not really correct. Because the RTX 3080 Ti has not yet been officially announced and therefore has not been given a release date.

Hardware guides on GameStar-Plus

Despite the poor availability, are you at the top of the list of pre-orders for an RTX 3000 or RX 6000? In order to be perfectly prepared for your high-end graphics card, the rest of your system may have to be brought up to date. Find out more in our plus guides:

It’s also a thing with the entries in the EEC. Experience has shown that in the end we do not always see all the models that are registered there. The registration is also hardly meaningful with regard to a release period. This can sometimes happen very quickly, but sometimes it can also be some distance away. All in all, the entries are a clear indication of a release.
