Users comment that Chris Pratt’s performance as the Nintendo plumber is somewhat weak and that it pales in comparison to other performances such as Jack Black as Bowser.

Super Mario Bros: The Movie, the big screen adaptation of the plumber’s adventures produced by Nintendo in collaboration with Illumination, presented its first teaser trailer yesterday during a special Nintendo Direct. In general, on social networks we can read mostly favorable and positive comments regarding the animation, the recreation of the characters and even the interpretation of Jack Black as Bowser. However, Mario’s voice has left more than one cold as ice.

Chris Meledandri, producer of the animated film, assured in June of this year that Chris Pratt would embroider him in his role as Mario, while at the end of 2021 he also stated that his accent would be phenomenal. In addition, it should be noted that Pratt himself announced in the summer that his voice would be different from the original. However, as we have already told you, Mario’s interpretation of him has not managed, at least for now, to meet the expectations generated. As we can read on Twitter, the biggest complaint is that “it is literally the voice of Chris Pratt” and that the actor has not made an effort to sound like the plumber.

“I just showed the guys the Mario trailer. The way they turned and looked at me when Chris Pratt’s voice came on is going to make me laugh for months, if not years,” writes film critic Robbie Cullin. What do you think of Pratt’s voice? Does it fit the role?

Available in theaters in March 2023

It’s fair to say that Mario speaks for only a few seconds in the trailer and that to properly judge Pratt’s performance it will be necessary to see the entire film when it opens in theaters in March 2023. Even so, it is undeniable that first impressions are very important, which is why not a few fans are somewhat concerned with the subject.
